Census 101: Poverty in Duplin, Onslow, & Pender Counties

Please take a moment to look at the data that the Census provides for North Carolina by state and county. If you notice, each county's poverty rate is above the state average indicating that this is a major problem. Please note that in most cases, county poverty rates rank higher than the national average. This too is a major problem. Why participate in the Census? This important data serves as PROOF to help bring valuable resources to our communities. How? The data derived from the Census is used to inform stakeholders and elected officials of what resources are needed. It lets them hear your story, and substantiates the need for affordable housing, higher paying career opportunities, better schools, roads, better transportation, and more resources for seniors and the low-income. Our goal is to bring resources into the community, but we need your help to make that happen. We want everyone to be holistically healthy, to live life to the best of your potential, and to help make your dreams come true. Participate in the next Census, all of our futures depend on it. Stay tuned for more info!
